Dhanbad




Dhanbad, the administrative headquarters of the Dhanbad District, is a mining town situated 125 km north-east of Ranchi. It is internationally renowned for its rich coalfields and is a prominent industrial and commercial center in Jharkhand. Dhanbad is 171 km northeast of Jamshedpur.

Places of tourist interest are Topchanchi Lake, Jharia and Sindri.

Nearest airport is at Ranchi. Dhanbad Junction Railway Station is a prominent railhead of Eastern Railways. National Highway 2 (Grand Trunk Road) passes through Dhanbad.
