Zongkhul




Zongkhul is a town located on the Padum-Kishtwar trekking trail at Zanskar in Ladakh region of Leh District, Jammu and Kashmir. It is at the beginning of Umasi-la Pass. Zanskar is about 20 km south of Rangdum.

The prime attractions of the place are the Zongkhul Monastery overlooking the Zongkhul falls and opportunities for trekking. The two caves and the frescos on its walls are very old and reflect a high degree of artistic achievement. The best time to visit is from July to early November.

Zongkhul is easily accessible from Karsha (11 km), Stongdey (20 km) and Burdan (10 km).
