Chimre Gompa is in
Chimre in
Leh District of
Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 45 km from
Leh. The gompa is balanced on top of a steep rock overlooking the snow-peaked mountains across the valley. The monastery boasts many beautiful statues of
Padmasambhava, seated on a lotus throne.
Chimre Gompa can be approached on the Leh - Manali road.
