Chimre is a small settlement in Leh District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is at an altitude of about 12,526 ft above sea level and is seven kilometers from Karu. The prime attraction is Chimre Gompa. The trekking route from Taktak towards Leh passes through this village.
Stakna is about 10 km to the west whereas Zingral is to the east. Ugu is about seven kilometers away in the southern direction.
One can approach Chimre on the Leh - Manali road.
