Akhnoor is a historic town located in Jammu District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 32 km south-west of Jammu.

The town is connected with the legend of Soni-Mahiwal. The Mughals took this route for traveling to Srinagar.

The Chenab River meets the plain in Akhnoor. The cool water surrounded by an unparalleled natural beauty makes this place ideal for picnickers. Ruins of the Indus Valley Civilization can be seen along the river bank.

Jammu Airport is the nearest airport. The nearest railhead is the Jammu Tawi Railway Station. Regular buses connect Akhnoor with Srinagar, Ramnagar, Jammu, Udhampur and Katra.
