Jaisalmer, the romantic desert city of Rajasthan, is the capital of the Jaisalmer district. This medieval city was founded by Rawal Jaisal of the Yadav clan. Its majestic splendor is visible in its magnificent palaces, havelis and temples. This city is also famous for its crafts and textiles.

The prime attractions of the city include the Jaisalmer Fort, Sonar Kila, Jain Temples, Gharisar, Amar Sagar Sand Dunes, Lodurvamanak chowk, Gadsisar Lake, Tazia tower, Patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli, Nathmalji-ki-Haveli, patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli, and Gyan Bhandar. The annual Desert Fair of Jaisalmer in February attracts numerous tourists.

Temperatures peak to 46oC in summer. Jaisalmer is connected to Jodhpur by regular train service. Jodhpur, 275 km away, is the nearest airfield.
