Lauria Areraj




Lauria Areraj is a village in East Champaran District. It is situated 31 km north-west of Motihari.

Significant of the attractions is a single block of sandstone column, which was established by Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC. This pillar is 12 m high, and contains six edicts on it. The chakra in the center of Indian National Flag is associated with this pillar.

The nearest airport is Patna Airport, and the nearest railway station is at Bettiah, which is 26 km away.
