Hudum

Hudum is a local festival organized at Agamani, in Dhubri District of Assam. It is celebrated as a worship done to the rain god. It is an exclusive festival for women. No male audiences are allowed to attend or even see the Hudum puja.

Being a seasonal performance, this festival is intended to invoke rain during the draught condition. This is a peculiar ritual in which the women move around the tree naked, singing the prayers of the rain god and enacting erotic movements. Usually this puja is performed outside the residential area, where trees are in plenty.
