Achampet



Achampet in Mahabubnagar District is situated around 145 km north-west of Hyderabad. It is located at 16° 38' 60" N latitude and 80° 7' 60" E longitude. It is bordered by the cities and towns of Pillutla and Medlchervu in the west, Nandigama and Amaravati in the east, Krosuru and Peddakurapadu in the south, and Jaggayapeta in the north.

Umamaheshwaram temple, situated on the hills of Nallamala forest and dating back to 2nd century AD is near Achampet. Other nearby attractions include the Nagarjuna Srisailam Tiger Reserve and the Nizamsagar reservoir built across the Manjira river.

The nearest airport is at Vijayawada and the nearest railway stations are at Kamareddy and Bhanswada, 51 and 29 km respectively, in Nizamabad District.
