Umayanalloor

Umayanalloor, also spelt Umayanallore, is a village in Kollam District of Kerala. Literally Umayanalloor means Umayanan-nte-oor, the birth place of Umayanan (Lord Subramanya).

The place is known to outsiders for the famed Sree Balasubramanya Swamy Temple built by Sree Sankaracharya. The famous ritual Anavalpidi is performed here in the Malayalam month of Meenam (middle of March).

By road, Umayanalloor is linked with Paravur and Mayyanad (10 km south of Kollam). Mayyanad Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
