Umayanalloor Sree Balasubramanya Swamy Temple




Umayanalloor Sree Balasubramanya Swamy Temple is an ancient shrine located at Umayanalloor in Kollam District of Kerala. Built by Sree Sankaracharya, this temple dates back to 2000 years. The presiding deity here is Lord Muruga.

The unique feature of this temple is that the idol faces the western direction. The Ganapati homam, muzhukkappu, sahasra namarchana and raktha pushpanjali are the main offerings here.

An annual festival is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Meenam (middle of March) for eight days. Anavalpidi and Kavadi are two famous rituals performed during the festive occasions.

By road, Umayanalloor is linked with Paravur and Mayyanad (10 km south of Kollam). Mayyanad Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
