Sundaridiya Satra




Sundaridiya Satra is one of the famous monasteries of Vaishnava sects, located close to Barpeta town in Assam.

Shri Madhabdeva, who founded this satra, stayed here for 14 years. He composed several Ankiya Nat (single act play) and Borgeet(devotional songs) including Chordhara, Nam Ghosa, Bhumi-Lotowa and Bhakti-Ratnakar during his stay at this satra.

There is a well, dug by the great saint Madhabdeva. The water of this well is considered sacred. Besides, the place holds three Guru Asanas namely Shri Sankardeva, Shri Madhavdeva and Shri Badula Ata.

By road, Sundaridiya Satra can be acceseed from Barpeta. Barpeta Road Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
