Sikander Khan Lodhi (1489-1517), the second ruler of
Lodhi dynasty, was known for his kind and just rule. He succeeded Buhlul Khan- his father and the founder of Lodhi dynasty- to the throne of
Delhi.
An able administrator, Sikander Khan Lodhi commanded the respect of his subjects. He further extended and strengthened his empire. During his reign, the Lodhi Empire extended from Punjab in the west to Bihar in the east. He founded the modern city of Agra to control the chieftains of the neighboring provinces. During this period Agra became a great cultural center.
Sikander Khan Lodhi died on November 21st 1517, after a long and illustrious rule. He was succeeded by his son Ibrahim Lodi, the last ruler of Lodhi dynasty.
