Sarju is located in
Latehar District and is about 19 km south-west of
Latehar, the district headquarters.
Netarhat, a prominent picnic spot famous for its waterfalls, is 19 km to the south. Other tourist destinations nearby are Palamu Tiger Reserve, Mirchaiya Waterfalls and Tataha Pani (a hot water spring near Barwadih).
Ranchi, the state capital, is around 112 km south-east. The nearest airport is Ranchi Airport. Latehar Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
