Purvanchal Express runs daily between Howrah Railway Station and Gorakhpur Junction Railway Station. (The eastern region of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are called ‘Purvanchal,’ meaning ‘eastern lands.’). This train covers a distance of 855 km and the main cities on the way are Durgapur, Asansol, Chittaranjan, Jasidih, Barauni, Muzaffarpur and Deoria.

Train number 5047: Howrah to Gorakhpur, leaves Howrah at 13:25 hrs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Train number 5048: Gorakhpur to Howrah, leaves Gorakhpur at 10:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
