Port Blair



The capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Port Blair is located about 1,200 km from Kolkata. It is named after Captain Archibald Blair , who first established a colony here in 1789.

Virgin beaches and fascinating marine life, on the reefs, coupled with the opportunities for water sports, bird watching and angling makes Port Blair one of the most interesting and enchanting tourist destinations.

The Zoological Park, Cellular Jail, anthropological museum, Samudrika and Corbyns Cove are the enchanting spots in Port Blair. Ross Island, Wandoor, Buoy Island, Havelock Island, Cinque Island, Viper Island and Neil Island constitute enchanting excursions.

Vir Savarkar Airport, at Port Blair, serves the 350 odd islands. Regular passenger ship services are available from Kolkata, Chennai and Visakhapatnam. Situated in South Andaman Island, it is at equal distance from Chennai and Kolkata.
