IndiaNational Highway 1
National Highway 1, once a part of the old Grand Trunk Road, is a 456 km-long stretch that links Delhi with Amritsar in Punjab. Passing Amritsar, it then runs up to Atari on India-Pakistan border.
Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Rajpura, Ludhiana, Phagwara and Jalandhar are some major cities that lie along National Highway 1. Of its total length, 22 km is in Delhi, 180 km in Haryana and the rest 254 km falls in Punjab.
