Kodarma is the administrative headquarters of
Kodarma District, in
Jharkhand. It is a prominent agricultural and commercial trade center in the district. Kodarma is around 70 km northeast of
Hazaribagh.
Places of tourist interest include
Tilaiya Dam (9 km), Dhwajadhari Hill and Urwan tourist complex.
Kodarma is well linked with Ranchi and Patna through the
National Highway 31. It is a main railhead on the grand chord rail line connecting New Delhi and Kolkata. Nearest airport is at Ranchi.
