Indore District in
Madhya Pradesh derives its name from the temple of Indreshwar erected in the town of
Indore in 1741. The population is two and a half million. The district is moderately cool with an average annual rainfall of 40 inches. The languages spoken are
Hindi, English,
Gujarati,
Marathi and
Sindhi.
Indore celebrates all national festivals as well as
Holi, Rang Panchami, Ahilya Utsav,
Raksha Bandhan and
Navratri. Malwa culture is predominant.
