Dawki is located in
East Khasi Hills District and is around 95 km south of
Shillong. It is near the district's border with Bangladesh.
The major interest here is the annual boat race, which is held during spring on the Umgot River. The enchanting surroundings, silver streams and deep water make it an excellent picnic spot. The place is also famous for its sweet, juicy oranges.
