Baba Baidyanath Temple




Baba Baidyanath Temple is located at Babadham, close to Jasidih in Deoghar District. The Baba Baidyanath temple complex consists of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlingam is installed, and 21 other temples. The main temple is a plain stone structure with a 72 ft tall pyramid tower. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of Baidyanath. The chief deity, the shivling, is 5 inches in diameter. With many porches and pillars, the temple is noted for its architectural excellence. Numerous bells are fixed on the ceilings. Apart from the chief deity, the temple houses the idol of Nandi. Water and milk flows into the shivling through a large masonry vat. The liquid containing sandal paste, milk and flowers, has an aromatic smell and is considered sacred by the devotees. Thousands of devotees from every nook and corner of the region throng the temple during the main festival.

Baidyanath Dham Railway Station is the nearby railway station and Ranchi Airport is the nearest airport.
