Avashyaka Sutra is a highly venerated text belonging to the Jain community. It is a part of an important canonical literature called
Mool sutras, which are referred by the newly conferred monks and nuns.
Avashyaka Sutra contains a detailed description of the rituals to be performed by the monks and nuns for purifying their souls. There are total of six rituals involved in the process, namely Samayika, Chaturvinshatistava, Vandanaka, Pratikramana, Kayotsarga and Pratyakhyana. Each of these rituals is dealt with in a comprehensive manner.
