Atapura




Atapura is a village located in Hooghly District. The village is famous for two temples – Radha Govinda Temple and Radha Gopinatha Temple. The place also holds the Samadhi of Paramesvara Thakura (believed to be the soul of Sri Nityananda Prabhu). The specialty of the Radha Gopinatha Temple is the kadamba tree in its garden. The festival of this temple is conducted on the full moon day of Vaisakha (April-May).

By road, Atapura can be reached by traveling 55 km west of Kolkata. The nearest railhead is the Atapura station which is on the narrow gauge railway line between Howrah and Amata. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the closest airport.
