Dhopap

Dhopap, held in great reverence, is in Sultanpur District of Uttar Pradesh. It was at this place that Lord Ram had taken a dip in the river on the advice of Maharshi Vashishth. Peoples believe that one who visits the place on the day of Dussehra, can wash his sins in the Gomti River. There is a grand temple frequented by large crowds of worshippers. The tract of the river Gomti around Dhopap (pargana Chanda, tehsil Kadipur) is described as Dhutpap in Vishnu Puran.
