Daranagar is located near
Bijnor in
Uttar Pradesh. During the battle of
Kurukshetra between
Pandavas and
Kauravas,
Vidura, the youngest brother of
Dhritarashtra and the prime minister of
Hastinapur, was asked by both the sides to protect their women and children. Vidur established a camp to accommodate all the women and children together. This place came to be known as Daranagar.
