Sankarankovil




Sankarankovil (also called Sankarankoil, Sankaranainarkoil) is a town in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu. Lying on the Madurai-Kollam rail route, it is well connected by rail and road.

The town is famous for a temple named Sankara Narayanan Temple where a car festival and Adithabasu festival are held in June-July. Sri Pambatti Siddhar Samadhi Peedam (samadhi of the founder of Siddha medicine) is also located there.

Sankarankovil is 56 km north of Tirunelveli. The town has a railway station: Sankarankovil Railway Station.
