Anna University was established on 4th September 1978. The university was originally called College of Engineering,
Guindy.
Situated at the southern part of Chennai, the main campus adjoins the Adyar River and the Raj Bhavan. The Madras Institute of Technology at Chrompet is the second campus and its third campus is located at Taramani near the Instronic campus, Adyar. This State University offers higher education in engineering, technology and allied sciences besides promoting research.
