Pampore is a small town situated on
Jammu-
Srinagar Highway and is about 10 km north of
Anantnag. Founded in the 9th century, it lies on the banks of
Jhelum River.
Pampore, once known as ‘Padampura’, is the center of Kashmir’s Saffron industry. Many big factories for manufacturing furniture, plywood, bricks and tiles have been established here.
Pampore is 13 km south-east of Srinagar.
