Kullu District

Kullu District, situated on both sides of the river Beas, was once known as Kulanthpitha which means the end of the habitable world. The Kullu valley is filled with forests, alpine meadows, gurgling rivulets, tiny fields and fruit orchards. In winter the temperature goes below 0º C with heavy snow fall and summer is pleasant. Akhara Bazaar is the main bazaar where Kullu caps, shawls, pattoos, gudmas and puhlas are sold in plenty.
