Worli

Worli, now a bustling area in central Mumbai, was one of the original seven islands that were joined together to create Mumbai. It is located just 3 km north of Mumbai Central Railway Station and is around 14 km to the south of Juhu.

Worli has had settlements since the 16th century; it was a fishing village then. The island was linked to the Mumbai mainland in 1784 after the construction of the Hornby Vellard, one of the first engineering projects that were instrumental in linking the islands to form the present Mumbai.

Haji Ali Dargah, Mahalakshmi Temple, Shivaji Park and Bandra, the 'queen of suburbs', are quite nearby.

Churchgate is around 8 km south. Worli Railway Station lies on the Mumbai Central – Dadar line of Western Railways. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is about 11 km north of Worli. Nearest major railhead is Dadar Central Railway Station, which is around 5 km east. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station is around 11 km south.
