Wilson Cottage

Wilson Cottage, also known as Wilson Hut, is a massive bungalow built in 1864 by a foreigner, Raja Wilson. The cemetery of Raja and his wife Gulabi is found in the dilapidated bungalow. A haunted cottage, it is noted for its magnificient architectural style and forms a major attraction of Harsil Village.

As per the legend, Raja was very prosperous and to his credit included log business, a hotel (now owned by the government of India), and a suspension bridge, which is in ruins now. His innovations envied the then king of Tehri. Ultimately Raja was killed. It is believed that one can hear him galloping down the area in his half Arab-grey horse on moonlit nights.
