Wildlife Institute of India




Giving appropriate training to the officers concerned for managing the protected area is the prime mission of Wildlife Institute of India. The institute also provides advisory and consultancy services to the central and state governments, universities, research institutions and other official and non-official agencies.

The institution offers courses such as a nine month post graduate diploma in wildlife management and three month certificate course in wildlife. It encompasses eight departments along with six cells. Animal Ecology and Management and Conservation Education, Population Management, Capture and Rehabilitation, and Wildlife health Management are the departments. Computer and GIS, Audio Visual Unit, Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), Captive Breeding and Zoo Management, Wildlife Forensic, and Wildlife Policy Research are the six cells.
