Walajapet

Wallajah


Walajapet, also termed as Wallajah, is a taluk headquarters in Vellore District. Located about 6 km east of Arcot, this prominent town is known for its unique cane articles. Mat weaving is common in this region. Arignar Anna Government Arts College for Women is a landmark.

The historic as well as industrial area of Ranipet lies in this taluk. Sholingur Narasimha Temple at Sholingur is 21 km from Walajapet. Kaveripakkam, a tourist spot known for its lake, is 10 km east.

Walajah Road Junction Railway Station falls on the Arakkonam and Katpadi rail route.

Walajapet can be reached from Kanchipuram (40 km) and Vellore (30 km). Chennai International Airport is 85 km east.
