Vizhinjam

The coastal village of Vizhinjam is about 18 km from Thiruvananthapuram. It is famous for a modern fishing harbor with a lighthouse and a blue beach. Sheltered on the coast of Arabian Sea, Vizhinjam is also a perfect tourist spot.

Earlier, it was the capital of the Ay kingdom (600-1000) and port of earlier Travancore State. Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium is well known for ornamental fishes. Vizhinjam rock cut cave is a nearby attraction. A Tidal Power Plant is situated here.

Trivandrum International Airport and Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station are the nearest airport and railway station. Regular bus services operate from Thiruvananthapuram.
