Vikriteswarar Temple




Vikriteswarar Temple is located at Venjamangudalur near Karur. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva known by the name Vikriteswarar. There is a separate shrine for Goddess Vikritambika. The temple teertham is Vikrita Teertham. The temple preserves the inscriptions from the period of King Rajakesari. Annual Brahmotsavam is celebrated in the month of Maasi (February-March) in a grand manner. The place is named after the king Venchan who worshipped Lord Shiva.
