Vernag



Situated about 26 km from Anantnag, close to the foot of the Pir Panjal Range, is a beautiful village named Verinag. Also known as Vernag, this place is about 6076 ft above sea level. Verinag is famous for Verinag Spring, the chief source of the Jhelum River. Munda in the west, Doru in the north, Wangom in the east and Gund in the south form the neighboring locations.

One can reach Verinag through the Jammu - Srinagar National Highway. Buses ply at frequent intervals from Banihal, Hingpur and Ramban.
