Veppathur is a small village, situated near Thiruvidaimaruthur and is 6 km from
Kumbakonam in
Thanjavur District. It was originally known as Nimmapuram because the entire village was full of neem trees once upon a time.
Lord Venkatachalapathi Temple, Veetrirundha Perumal Temple, Kamakshi Ambal Sametha Sri Ekambareswarar Temple and Sri Meenakshi Ambal Sametha Sri Sundareswarar Temple are the major shrines here. Besides, a Mariamman Koil and an Ayyanar Koil are also found here.
