Vasudeva Temple




Vasudeva Temple, also known as Bansberia Temple, is located at Bansberia in Hooghly District of West Bengal. Bansberia is about 47 km north of Kolkata.

This intricately carved and highly revered shrine was constructed in 1679 by Raja Rameshwar Dutta. It conforms to the traditional Bengal style of architecture with curved cornices and an octagonal tower. The walls of the temple are decorated with images from the Krishna Leela, Ramayana and Mahabharata.

The idol of Ananta Vasudev (Basudeva) or Lord Vishnu is installed inside the temple along with Shivlingas in the surrounding area.

The famous Hanseswari Temple is situated nearby. Bansberia Railway Station on the Howrah-Katwa main line is the nearest railway station.
