Varadarajaswami Temple




Varadarajaswami Temple is located in the vicinity of Hemagiri in Bangalore District.

Lord Vishnu is worshipped here as Varadarajaswami, or as Hemagiriappa. This simple structured temple is located amid wooded hills. The idol is a round stone on the floor, signifying an Udbhavamurti. A large footprint of the Lord is seen outside the temple. A wooden chariot is another feature of the temple. A grand fair is held during Makara Sankranti, which attracts a large number of devotees. Hemagiri is located on the outskirts of Huliyurdurga, 80 km from Bangalore.
