Vallam is located on the National Highway 66 between Tindivanam and Thiruvannamalai. This administrative unit is in the northern region of Viluppuram District. Tindivanam is 14 km east and Gingee is 11 km west.

The Chola temple, Sri Mangalambigai Temple at Melsevur is the nearest attraction. Also, Venkataramana Temple, 24 Theerthangarargul and Krishnagiri Fort can be visited while in Vallam.
