The port is a customs port for the purpose of unloading of ships for breaking and crew baggage of such ships. Valinokkam is an open roadstead port and smaller ships anchor inside the Valinokkam Bay, about 2 km northeast of Valinokkam Point. A small cargo shed and wide stacking area are the main facilities.
