Vajreshwari Temple

Vajreshwari Temple is an ancient shrine, situated in Chamba District, Himachal Pradesh. This temple, believed to be 1000-year-old, is dedicated to Goddess Vajreshwari - the goddess of lightning. Built in Shikhara style, the temple is a blend of fine sculpture and exquisite architecture.

The temple pillars are extensively garnished with meticulous carvings depicting numerous Hindu deities. There are 18 brief one-line epigraphs on the outer walls and a short tree-line inscription on one of the two pillars in front of the entrance of the shrine. The image of Goddess Durga seated on a lion and Lord Vishnu (with three faces - human, lion and boar) can be seen in the niches to the exterior of the temple.

This temple can be easily reached by bus from Chamba.
