Vadatheertha Nathar-Aalanturai Naathar Temple




Vadatheertha Nathar-Aalanturai Naathar Temple is located at Tiruppullamangai in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu, 15 km from Chakrapalli. It is an ancient Chola temple with many inscriptions from their period. The garbagriham and the ardhamandapam with the images of Lingodbhavar, Bhramma, Durga, Vinayaka and Dakshinamurthy. It also has a stone structure of Parantaka I's period. The Sthala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Aalmaram (banyan tree) and the Teertham is Shiva Teertham. Sambandar has contributed pathigams for Vadatheertha Nathar. The main festival celebrated here is the Saptastanam festival in the Tamil month of Pankuni (March-April). Others include Kartikai Deepam, Arudra darsanam and Navratri.
