Vadamalaiyaru is formed by the combination of Virisidai-idiyaru and Kadaiyaru, two rivulets originating from the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats, above the Sankarankoil taluk. It runs through the taluk before emptying into the big tank of Malaiyadikurichi.
