Uzhichil is a type of massage in Ayurveda, which rejuvenates the nervous and muscular systems of the body and enhances the blood circulation. It is done by applying herbal oil on the body and massaging softly with hands and feet as per the ayurvedic rules. Specially prepared Mukkoott oil is used for this purpose. The oil may differ according to the physical nature of the person.

There are mainly two types of Uzhichil - Kaiuzhichil and Chavuttiuzhichil. Kaiuzhichil is done with hands while Chavuttiuzhichil is performed with the feet. The former is preferred for children, the elderly and people of light build whereas the latter is meant for young and healthy persons.

Uzhichil is advisable for children who do not have proper physical growth, those who are obese, those who have some other physical ailment, and to reduce old age difficulties. Uzhichil also enhances the general fitness of a person.

Uzhichil can be mastered only with intense practice under the instruction of a guru.
