Uttattur




Previously known as Urattur, Uttattur is an ancient place in Tiruchirapalli District. It is 34 km north of Tiruchirapalli and 4 km south-east of Padalur, which is on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai highway. The place is famous for a Chola period temple named Masilamaneeshwarar Temple. Also, the ancient Gothanda Ramar temple, Muruga temple in the nearby hillock and Chelliamman temple can be visited.

Siruganur, Karai and Pullambadi (13 km) are nearby. Siruvachur of Perambalur District is at a distance of 13 km from Uttattur.

Tiruchirapalli Airport serves the area. Nearest railhead is Pullambadi Railway Station.
