Usha Devi Temple




Usha Devi Temple is a wooden shrine, located in the Nichar Village, in Kinnaur District, Himachal Pradesh. The presiding deity is Goddess Usha, also known as Ukha.

The noteworthy feature of the temple is that it houses the plates of bell metal belonging to the Goddess in one of the rooms. The temple rule is that no one except the 'Bhandari' (the temple priest) is eligible to enter this room. Even he is not allowed to look around the room while bringing the plates out.

The temple can be reached by bus from Rekong Peo, the district headquarters.
