Upoor is a place in
Ramanathapuram District where the Veyulugantha Vinayagar Alayam (temple) is located. The place is about 85 km from
Rameshwaram. It is believed that during the course of
Lord Ram's expedition to Sri Lanka, he worshipped Lord Vinayagar at this temple.
