Umasi Pass, also known as Umasi-la, situated at an altitude of 5300 m, lies in Kishtwar region, Jammu and Kashmir. One among the major passes over the main Himalayan Range, crossing the Umasi Pass is quite hazardous. The region gives a magnificent view of the nearby glaciers and Kishtwar. On the way to Umasi-la there is a small hermitage of Dzongkhul. The Zanskar valley is accessed via the Umasi Pass. The pass is an ideal base for trekking. The best period to visit is from the end of July to the end of September.
