Umashankar Joshi




Umashankar Joshi (1911-1988) was renowned as a Gujarati poet, scholar, and writer. He has penned a number of books, the popular ones being 'Gangotri,' 'Vishwashanti,' 'Nishith,' and 'Satapada.' In recognition of his impressive literary contribution, he was conferred the Jnanpith Award and Soviet Land Nehru Award. He served as the president of the Sahitya Akademi from 1978 to 1982.
